It is Adorable!

A friend of mine used to live in the house I'm moving into. Because she is the bestest, she is actually leaving me a couple of ADORABLE pieces of furniture. I loved this sofa and commented to her about it when I went to look at the house - and she decided to leave it for me because she simply didn't have the space for it.

I'm going crazy -- it is SOOO fantastic!!

Don't you love it?

My New House - The Pre-Tour

I got a sneak peek (mostly because my friend currently lives in the house) at the house tonight and got to take some pictures!!! I'm so excited to start moving in. So, here is the sneak peak of what I'll be working with once it is ready for me to move in :)

Clark Gable's Dimples ...

When was the last time you saw a Clark Gable movie? That man is awfully dreamy! There is something about his dark hair, loving eyes, and dimples ... he is the reason we say we want a man who is "tall, dark, and handsome" ... or, at least, he is the reason I say it :)

The Joy and Misery of Moving

Anyone who has moved knows that moving is a terrible thing. No matter how excited I am about the new house, nothing makes up for knowing that moving is simply a LOT of work!

However, moving does mean buying new things!! It has been a week for shopping :)

This was the first thing I bought this week (I forgot to take a picture before it went to the storage unit, so excuse the mess). What an adorable chair! I could recover it, and it may come to that later on, but for now it is adorable and I think I'll go in the master bath at the house.
$22 (antique store)

This "painting" was a steal for $1.00 at a garage sale this weekend. It is just a print on cardboard in a plastic frame, but on the wall I don't think you'll ever know the difference :)

I LOVE luncheon dishes! I already have several sets. But this set of 16 was in too perfect of condition to pass up! Plus, I can plan a large lunch for all my friends :)
$10 for set of 16

These were my luxury item this week. I needed dining room chairs and really wanted metal ones to go with my farmhouse table. I found these at an antique store and, although they were far from a steal, they were too adorable and fantastic to pass up. I hope to recover the seats in a sweet stripe and repaint them ... but for now they are perfect just the way they are.
$55 each, bought the set of 4

My other "luxury" purchase this week was new mattresses. I have had the money set aside for some time now, but I was expecting to move across the state and didn't want to buy some and move them. Instead I waited, although my perfect job popped up here in town and I suppose I could have been sleeping on them all along.
These were a bargain at $899 and I will make payments at 12 months same as cash! Lets me keep my savings in my savings account :)

In the mean time, this is my life. I'm so glad everything is packed up except my bedroom and bathroom. Although that is quite the start on boxes! This is what I've packed today! Hoping to get the rest done by Wednesday!!

My dearest friend (and her adorable son) and the staff at my church both sent me flowers at work this week! There is nothing in the world that makes you feel as special and as loved as flowers (especially getting them at work, where everyone can see how loved you are - this makes me sound like a silly girl, but I don't care)!! They are currently beautifying the kitchen (and they smell fantastic!)

Yarm Bombing and the US Pro Challenge

In addition to my great week ... this is what I saw on my way into work on Tuesday morning.

YARN BOMBING!

In honor of the bike festival (I'm pretty sure I know the "guilty party") and team USA our library's bike rack was fabulously decorated :)
Having never seen "yarn bombing" in person, I was pretty excited!

And, although they had to close the streets and I had to go to work two hours early (which worked out, as that is when I had my job interview!)

Then, we got to all take a "break" at work to go out and watch the beginning of the second day of the US Pro Challenge!!

I want all weeks to be like this

Giant news everyone!

Want to know what it is?

You'll have to go HERE

I know, what a tease :)

Free + Concert ... I'm there

I love the arts. Music, theatre, painting, sculpture ... I crave it. I'm drawn to these talented people; those who are interesting, comfortable in their own skin, and have this style that I could not mimic (or, at least, not pull off).

Living in Montrose, the ability to fully immerse myself into this world of the arts is not as well fulfilled as I would like it to be. However, tonight was a little different ... tonight was wonderfully surprising or, as I would like to call it - Audrey Assad Comes to Montrose.

House Tutorials I'm Looking Forward To

Since I expect to be moving soon (that is the point of job hunting, yes?), I've been all over pinterest and the internet looking for great tutorials for excellent home ideas. Here are the ones I look forward to trying the most in my next rental/home (that's right, I might actually be a home owner, but that may be more fantasy than reality as this point in time).

One thing I've learned, the window coverings in a rental are ALWAYS terrible. Oh, side note, they are always expensive too!

I have two super plain bookcases that this will be great for! How brilliant to cover cardboard and put it inside ... I've tried to do paper and fabric and it is SO HARD.

I love artwork and anything giant. I would make this on an extreme size (maybe just with thumbtacks right on the wall)! I'm thinking that either over my couch or on a big wall, if I have one. The possibilities are really endless with this!! I could even spell something out like this

Every rental (read: Every, not most, every) has an ugly appliance. What a great way to fabulize them!!

I'm totally a painter (I know, it is a rental, but really, who cares? I have to live there!) and these pink doors totally speak to my heart!

Speaking of paint, I love the color of this bathroom, plus the myriad of things on the walls make it perfect!!

And more paint ... my house WILL have a chalkboard wall in the kitchen ... it is a necessity!

This wall is brilliant and I love it ... it makes me so excited to move I can hardly stand it!

Back on the band wagon...

... of yard saleing that is :)

After a couple of weeks missing out on the sales, I was glad to get back at it again today. Here are the "scores"!!

Today I went to a mere 8 sales (normally I hit up around 20) and my mom came along with me. Because we are slow when we shop together, the eight sales took me what 20 normally take. Oh well, it was a fun morning for us that was finished off with coffee and looking at houses.

Here is everything I nearly stole today :)

Green Depression Glass Bowls                                             $5.00

Glass Salad Bowl                                                         $0.75

Matted Print of a store window with clouds                                     $1.00

Matted Black and White Picture of a Quilt hanging on the Line                      $1.00

Vintage Purse                                                          $5.00

Inside View of Purse

Ocean Painting (Oil on Canvas)                                               $0.75
(I'm going to use it for THIS project!!)

Sub Total $13.50

Coffee with my Mom $10.24

Grand Total $23.74

I'm NOT Working Weekends

I had my last weekend at Chili's last week ------------>

I was looking forward to having a life again :) I have worked at the restaurant for eight and a half years and I haven't had consistent weekends off (or evenings, or times to spend with people who aren't free in the middle of the afternoon) in FOREVER. Although it now means I'm poor for awhile, I'm so looking forward to time to be human again.

So, on Friday I got off at 3:00, which left me plenty of time to rest and relax (after what was actually a long week) before meeting my BFF for coffee and sitting in the lovely garden at Coffee Trader. Then it was off to play with BFF's little boy and my "computer" (we play with the apps I'm testing from Happi Pappi on my iPad). Then, off to Target on a mini-shopping trip!

We finished out Friday night with a movie ... One for the Money. I read the book (as my rules state) and it was okay. I'm not so much for those cop/action/mystery novels, but I finished it so it must have been at least tolerable (this was like four or five years ago). The movie was pretty cute. I always enjoy the personality Katherine Higel brings to her movies! In the book I totally wanted her to fall madly in love with Ranger ... but in the movie, not so much. I might work on a comparison later on.

Not our event
I was too distracted to take any pictures

Saturday continued my fun weekend. I slept in and got to help hand out school supplies to those in need. It was an awesome event at my church (Grace Community) and we were able to help out a bunch of families. Saturday afternoon I did some more vegging (after an obligatory trip to Wal-Mart, or as I like to call it, hell-mart) and worked on my family genealogy which is coming along nicely.

I was then able to go have dinner with another friend and her adorable child. Dinner was great, hand-tossed pizza with mozzarella, white sauce, shrimp, grilled garlic ... yumm-o! I finished off the night with a movie with my sis and her Bible Study group. We saw The Bourne Legacy, which was fantastic and I got Cotton Candy :)

I think I've decided that Cotton Candy + Jeremy Renner = perfect movie. But in all seriousness, the movie was good.

Tomorrow I'm looking forward to more veg out time. I am wanting to get a BUNCH of research done on my Family Tree this week and some more organizing with it because I am attending a Genealogy Class and want to look prepared. Glee, hope you've had a good weekend too!

One of those nights

Not that anything particularly stressful happened today, but it was one of those nights when I was just craving sweets. Since I've been trying not to buy junk food (I've heard it is bad for you ... plus I am trying not to spend money frivolously), it was up to me to make something delicious.

Things I Like Thinking About: Vol 1

Heading to Denver

Although it was a speedy trip to Denver, any excuse to escape to the big city with my mom and sis is great for me. Add in lots of eating, shopping, and looking around = one fabulous weekend!

Joe's Crab Shack Fishy

Thursday

Left for Denver around 10:30
Arrived in Denver around 3:30
Checked into hotel

Relaxed for a bit and drove around Parker, CO (where we stayed)

Mom with her fab bib!

Bib and Zipper
(which the waitress said I could keep, promise!)
Now, I like to eat at local places when I travel, however, Joe's is too good to pass up!

I had some fabulous crab steam pot, which I literally gorged myself upon and needed the shop 'til I drop experience afterwards.
